Our Wines

Halter Ranch produces a range of wines from our 250-acre estate vineyard on the west side of Paso Robles. The 19 varieties grown in the vineyard afford us the opportunity to produce not only world-class varietal wines, such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, but also blends like our GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre.)

Winemaker, Bill Sheffer uses estate fruit to produce rich, balanced wines that fully express their varietal character as well as the unique attributes of our site. Enhanced by judicious aging in French oak barrels, they are wines that are delicious to drink on release, but also have the depth and concentration to age well in the bottle.

In spring 2005, we opened our tasting room and released a Syrah from the 2002 vintage. In 2008 we will release 11 wines, including Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as our Ranch Red, and Ranch White blends. Our 2004 Estate Reserve, Ancestor, will be released in October 2008. This wine represents our winemaker’s choice of the optimum blend from the best red wine lots of the vintage.

At present, our limited production means our wines are not widely distributed. We can legally ship our wines to consumers in many states, so if you’d like to order, please contact us by phone, fax or e-mail.
